Esme's Homecoming- Bellevue- Newborn Photography

One of my favorite moments as a mother was coming home from the hospital with our latest addition, Esme'.
This was also one of my favorite moments as a photographer as well.
Esme' and I had just come home from the hospital and were relaxing on the back porch with the boys when I grabbed my camera to capture everyone's reactions to having a girl in the house.
There was an excitement in the air and you could see how infatuated everybody was with Esme'. Craig was so scared to have a daughter but you could tell already how protective he was of her at only two days old.
These pictures capture the long waited anticipation of bringing home another baby. After months of wondering what it would be like with another child, everyone was so happy and had such huge smiles on their face. This is my family at it's finest and I am so happy to have such great photographs to remind me of wonderful moments like this!

Aspen - Bellevue - Infant Photography

This photo session of Aspen is from when he was a mere infant at 3 months old!
Boy has he changed and I am so glad that I took this quick photo session with him while he was a babe!
The pictures are from an old point and shoot camera but were still a blast to shoot. We were living in a little apartment in Bellevue so I used a towel and the living room curtains to make a faux studio.
Since upgrading to my NikonD3100, I have learned a lot.
I can't wait to book some more newborn and infant shoots because I can't wait up date my portfolio!

Sean & Paula - Cancun, Mexico - Wedding Photography

I want to take the time to wish my brother and my now lovely sister in law a
Happy 1st Anniversary!
I had the pleasure of photographing Sean and Paula's wedding- as well as being the best woman!
Though I lived in Bellevue at the time, we traveled with our two children to Cancun, Mexico for their awesome destination wedding.
It was a week of family and friends and you could definitely feel the love in the air.
Their wedding was a simple yet intimate ceremony on the beach with beautiful flowers and an even more beautiful bride. I cried like a baby while my big brother said his vows yet couldn't be happier.
So cheers to the happy couple as they celebrate their first anniversary!
Lots of Love,
Emily

Shea - Jefferson Park, Seattle - Children's Photography Session

Shea.. there is so much I can say about this girl.
She is wild, full of energy and had no problem bringing out her true personality during her short 15 minute photo session.
If i had to describe Shea in one catch phrase it would be:
"I am woman... hear me ROAR!"
And that is exactly what she did!
Shea is a free spirit and it was great to be able to capture that in the short time I was with her!

Ben, Leta & Max - Jefferson Park, Seattle - Family Photography Session

Now that I have braved some very scary price tags with starting my business, I am beginning to approach more families with children to have their photos taken.
This is where Ben, Leta and Max come into the picture.
{ pun intended }
Ben and Leta were playing with their 22 month old son nearby when I approached them asking if they could use some family photos. They were great to work with and even though Ben said they would need directing the best photos I took were candid. Being able to photography families while they play with their children or take a walk allows me the opportunity to capture what they are really like.
Seeing Max's expression while his mother put on his hat or catching a glimpse of Max sucking his thumb while riding on his dad's shoulders... those moments are the ones that should be remembered.
It is scary at first to approach strangers to see if they want their photos taken- it has the potential to make you look like a creeper- but when you meet great people with an adorable kid, it makes it all worthwhile!

Austin - Robinswood Park, Bellevue - Children's Photography

I would like to think that I am OK with kids considering I am an ex-teacher and mother of three but Austin gave me a run for my money. Every time I pointed the camera at him, he ran the other way.
I was getting a really good cardio exercise in while I got some great shots of this little guy.
{ Notice how his biggest smile is of him trying to run away from me? }

Regardless of how quick Austin was I had a fun time trying to keep up with this little trickster.
