Aspen & Kyler- Top Pot Doughnuts in Bellevue- Children's Photography

Emily Brooker Photography- Children's Portraits- Bellevue, Washington
I have been trying to find some indoor locations for photo shoots if the weather is temperamental which Seattle is known for...
so I took the kids to Top Pot Doughnuts in Bellevue and used it as an experimental session.
What I liked about this location is how bright it was even on a not so great day and how yummy our doughnuts were! Having them chow on something gave the kids something to do while they were getting their pictures taken which is sometimes half the battle when it comes to photographing children- distraction!
( And yes... Kyler really does eat as fiercely as depicted! )
Overall, this was a really good place for an indoor photo shoot and if i wasn't cleaning up a bottle of spilled water and kissing boo-boos from Aspen falling out of his chair, I probably would have had more pictures to share. But life with kids is unpredictable and not always picture perfect!
Hope you had a wonderful Friday!

Christen - Renton- Maternity Photo Shoot

Emily Brooker Photography- Maternity Photography- Renton, Washington
I had the pleasure of photographing my first maternity session with my sister in law, Christen. She is only 5 months along with her first child. Later in her pregnancy we are going to do another session right before the baby is due in November.
This session was very spontaneous and I loved that we just picked up and went to Gene Cuolon Park in Renton and captured some great shots.

Her bump is just the right size for people to start noticing she is pregnant and you can tell how excited she truly is! More pictures are on the site so check out her gallery here!

Photography Workshop by Candice from Project Thursday

I was inspired to start my business from this lovely lady, Candice Hackett. She was the photographer we hired for our family photos and I loved her style and artistic eyes.
So when Candice started offering workshops, I jumped on the chance! We met at a coffee shop in Tacoma and she went over a great presentation she uses as a guideline that was filled with her tips. It was great being able to sit around with our cameras and fiddle around while she talked about manipulating different things like ISO, aperature and shutter speed.
To add to the overall greatness of the workshop, Candice brought a model with her for us to practice shooting. We were able to practice posing, composition and shifting perspective. It was a great beginners course and was a great refresher on a lot of concepts I had known a bit about.
If you are in the Seattle or Tacoma area and are interested in learning in an introductory photography course, check out Candice's site at Project Thursday.

Fike Family- Renton- Family Photography

Emily Brooker Photography- Family Portraits- Renton, Washington
I met a wonderful family who wanted to get some photos taken before they move to Montana.
Having worked with the little girl before, I was prepared for wrangling a two year old during a photo session.
This family session was taken at Gene Cuolon Park in Renton. I love this park because of all the little areas you can hang out in along the water. Mom came prepared with some wooden letters and it made for some great shots.
Overall, I had a great time during this family session and am really happy with their gallery!
